AIMS & OBJECTIVES

To foster interest in orchid growing, appreciation and conservation by educating our
members and the public by way of meetings, talks, demonstrations orchid shows, etc..

MEETINGS
The society meets on the first Saturday of each month at the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions, 1 Hope Boulevard, Kingston 6, at 4.00 p.m.

Visitors are always welcome at our meetings. At our monthly meetings we try to keep business related matters to a minimum and focus on discussing orchid growing and exhibition matters. Members are encouraged to bring plants in bloom to the meetings for exhibition and discussion. Prizes are awarded to plants exhibited as follows:
Best New Member's Plants (open to members of less than 1 year)
Best Jamaica Species
Best Foreign Species
Best Orchid

NOVEMBER 2011 MEETING

We will have American Orchid Society award judging on Saturday 05 November at our monthly
meeting at the JCTU building. Judging will commence at 2.00 pm. This event is open to the
public and you need not be a member of the society to exhibit plants for awards. Exhibitors are
asked to bring exhibits before 2.00 pm.

 

2012 JOS SHOW

The 2012 Jamaica Orchid Society Show will be staged at the
Jamaica Horticultural Society's Exhibition Hall, Gibson Drive,
Hope Pastures, Kingston 6, adjoining Hope Botanical Gardens on
March 24 - 25, 2012.

Schedule of Events

Wednesday March 21 - Set up
Thursday March 22 - Set up, plant entered for judging
Friday March 23 - Ribbon & AOS judging
Saturday March 24 - Open to Public
Sunday March 25 - Open to Public
